Case study: A traditional kitchen stone floor for family home
A warming, traditional kitchen stone floor filled with depth and character sets off this classic shaker kitchen perfectly.
Our customer chose Montpellier antiqued limestone for the flooring throughout the new kitchen/diner in their family home. The stone is hand-finished to create the worn patina of a floor that has been laid for many years and features beige, chocolate and taupe tones throughout.
The stone flooring, which was supplied in widths of 400mm and 500mm, has been laid across the room in random lengths to create a feeling of expanse and seamlessly link the dining and kitchen areas.
The tiles also flow seamlessly on to a large outdoor terrace, helping to ‘bring the outside in’ and encourage continuity between the spaces.
The impressive shaker kitchen featured in this case study was created by Planet Furniture in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and features a bespoke large dresser at the back of the room, a hugely functional island and antiqued mirror splashback for added character. This design is part of the firm’s Handmade in Hitchin range which features kitchens all made from scratch in the Planet Furniture workshop.
